Evangelism is one of our church missions. It is the duty and privilege of every follower of Christ to witness to the Gospel, in an effort to make disciples of all nations. The word “evangelism” comes from the Greek word, “euaggelizo,” which means to announce good news. Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, who was born of a virgin. He lived a sinless life, and His substitutionary death on a cross paid the penalty for sin. He was raised from the dead, He ascended into Heaven, and He will return again in power and judgment.
Gothenburg Ethiopian Evangelical Church is called to proclaim the truth about Jesus Christ, the saviour of the world. We strive to declare the good news to the lost. Obviously in the context of Christianity, the good news is about Jesus Christ. The GOOD NEWS of the Gospel is that on the third day after His burial, Jesus Christ AROSE FROM THE DEAD! (1 Cor. 15:3-4.) This was witnessed by many people. (1 Cor. 15:5-8.) After 40 days, He ascended back to Heaven. (Acts 1:3, 9-11) Our church evangelism ministry is lead by the evangelism team who have a heart for the lost and the needy. The Evangelism ministry members meet every Monday from 6:00 to 8:00pm at FEMMAN for preaching the good news.
